Pittsford, by Audrey Maxfield Johnson and Vicki Masters Profitt

Pittsford, by Audrey Maxfield Johnson and Vicki Masters ProfittPittsford, from the Arcadia Press “Images of America” series,  features some 200 vintage photographs of Pittsford (both Town and Village) captioned in detail by Audrey Maxfield Johnson, Pittsford Town Historian, and Vicki Profitt, Perinton Historical Society Museum Director.  This is an overview, from the Earliest Residents to the Twentieth Century, showing how the early families continued to contribute to the life of Pittsford from the 1780’s through the 20th century. Of particular interest is the chapter on Commerce and Agriculture, featuring photographs of the labors and equipment on the Hopkins Farm, in operation since 1860. While methods, and some crops, have changed, some of the century-old equipment is still in use and the farm is still in the family.

Vicki Masters Profitt will appear at the Local Author Book Fair at the Fairport Public Library, 1 Fairport Village Landing, on Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 2 to 4 PM.
